Out Loud is a graphic novel by Daniel Tibbits starring Sedrik, a rusty robot that awakens in a pile of scrap metal. Sedrik has very little memory and must build a new life in an abandoned industrial 19th century town. When the past reveals itself, negative thoughts and emotions overtake and he must find balance.
In the fall of 2016 I decided to take a break from painting and do some introspection. One day I came across some children’s wood blocks. After a few months I had built an abandoned castle and a rusty robot made from wood and metal called Sedrik. I decided to use photography to tell a story about Sedrik and his relationship with words. The result is Out Loud, a 44-page graphic novel which is my first book and took me almost 2 years to make.
